If you know someone who looks like they have had their teeth straightened, but you never saw them in braces, they have probably just completed an Invisalign® treatment.
What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a clear braces system that is nearly impossible to see. In fact, the only people who will know you are wearing Invisalign® will be you and your dentist in Independence.
Invisalign® utilizes 11 to 31 sets of clear plastic aligners. Dependent on your prescription and plan, you could wear your clear braces between 9 and 18 months. Some patients have great results after just six months. Old school braces may need to be worn as long as two years before results are seen.
How Does Invisalign® Work?
According to Dr. David Schaeffer, a preferred Invisalign® dentist, Invisalign® is a system used to straighten teeth. Instead of pushing and pulling like conventional wires and brackets, the invisible clear aligners gently move your teeth into position. Because you swap out your aligners every 7 to 14 days, you won’t have to see your Independence cosmetic dentist as often.
With Invisalign® you will only need to schedule dental appointments in Independence every six weeks. If you are wearing conventional braces, you will need to see your dentist or orthodontist every two weeks for uncomfortable adjustments.
Is Everyone a Candidate for Invisalign®?
Not everyone is a good candidate for invisible braces. People who have severely tipped or rotated teeth, or a serious under or overbite, see better results with conventional wires and brackets. Dr. Schaeffer will be able to recommend the procedure that would be best for you.
People with slightly rotated or tipped teeth and teeth with small gaps are perfect candidates for Invisalign®.
