Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I have to go to a dentist twice a year if I brush and floss regularly?
While we congratulate you for taking care of your smile, there are many oral health problems that can’t be solved with simple brushing or flossing. Many issues arise due to genetics, like gum disease, or by sheer accident or coincidence, like tooth loss. Even plaque, a byproduct of the bacteria that normally exists in healthy mouths, cannot be removed with a toothbrush. Deep cleanings at general dentistry appointments are required to remove substances that put your teeth at risk for decay. Dr. Schaefer is dedicated to providing the best possible care for his patients, and general dentistry visits are vital for maintaining a bright, healthy smile.
I have persistent pain in my tooth, but I can’t see the cause. Am I overreacting?
No! If there is consistent pain in a tooth, and no reasons behind the discomfort can be identified, you may have a tooth infection. Only a dentist can identify whether you are affected by a tooth infection, so it’s important to see Dr. Schaefer immediately in this case. If you do have a tooth infection, a root canal may be the only way to prevent decay from damaging the entire tooth. We only perform root canals as a last option, but they are highly successful with eliminating the painful germs and rebuilding the enamel of your tooth. Call us immediately if you have a tooth that hurts for longer than a day. Dr. Schaefer is here to protect your oral health.
What payment methods do you accept?
Dr. Schaefer is happy to accept cash, checks, and credit cards. We also work with CareCredit, a third-party lender that offers loans at low interest rates to help patients obtain the dental care that they need. Talk to us today to learn more about these payment options to determine which best fits your needs.
I want to improve my smile, but I’m not sure which procedure is best for me. Can you help?
Of course! We’re here to help patients better their oral health as well as their self-confidence, and we know that sometimes those two goals go hand-in-hand. Dr. Schaefer can take a look at your smile, and then suggest ways to enhance your image. We offer many cosmetic dentistry procedures, including teeth whitening, veneers, and even cosmetic bonding. It all depends on what you would like to accomplish with your cosmetic dentistry procedure. Call us today to schedule your appointment.
