As a patient of Dr. Ralph Ruckman, you have certainly become accustomed to the highest quality of professional dental care. Now, with Dr. Ruckman’s retirement, he has entrusted your care to the family at Schaefer Dental, and I personally want to ensure that you can count on the same exceptional level of attention and consideration.

An Easy Transition for You and Your Family

We have taken several steps to make this transition as smooth as possible. First, unless you directed Dr. Ruckman’s office to do otherwise, your dental records have already been transferred to our office. And if we need to learn more about your dental care, then we can be in touch with Dr. Ruckman and his team.

And speaking of Dr. Ruckman’s team, many of you may know Lyndsay Ballantyne, one of Dr. Ruckman’s dental hygienists. Well, Lyndsay is now working for us at Schaefer Dental. Seeing Lyndsay at our office will make you feel right at home, and I think you will find many other similarities between our practices. For example, we take great pride in helping our patients understand their treatment choices, insurance benefits and payment options before we begin service.

Dr. David A. Schaefer

Dr. Schaefer was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. He is a proud graduate of William Chrisman High School. Dr. Schaefer attended Graceland University for two years before finishing his B.S. degree in Biology at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery, DDS, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1987. Since then, Dr. Schaefer has made a commitment to advancing his skills and knowledge by attending many continuing education courses and programs. 

Dr. Schaefer is a valued member of the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, Greater Kansas City Dental Society, and the Eastern Jackson County Dental Health Group. He is a former member of the Independence Advisory Board of Health.
